F54T5/HO Tubes require FEP for optimal performance.
FEP is used exclusively on F54T5/HO High Output fluorescent tubes and provides long lasting shatter containment for these high temperature lamps. The key and fundamental attribute of FEP is its superior thermal resistance. This key attribute is what gives FEP its ability to maintain shatter containment, without degrading, throughout the entire life of the lamp. FEP is extremely strong, puncture resistant and lightweight. It is applied to the fluorescent tube by Norman's custom developed and semi-automated process which is capable of producing up to 2,000 coated F54T5/HO tubes per hour.
Norman’s exclusive process completely and securely encapsulates the entire glass tube including the end caps. In the event of breakage, the glass, phosphors, and mercury remain trapped within the FEP protective envelope. The lamp can then be safely removed and disposed of properly with no harm to people or surroundings.
